The line doesn't exist in reality. It consists of the boundary our brain positions between us and others, between one object and another. between the foreground and the background. The line is imaginary and forced, it is three dimensional and vectored, it exists in our mind and conceptually.
Breaking the line, using techniques that stop us from perfecting them. Drawing with unusual materials such as twine, sticks or fir cones will create irregular, natural shapes. These broken lines feel more natural and create movement within the object.
